Created on January 1, 1994, the "Networks and Telecommunications Services" (RST) department is one of the departments of Télécom SudParis. The RST department is located on two campuses in Évry-Courcouronnes and Palaiseau, less than thirty kilometers from each other. It is part of Institut Polytechnique de Paris.
The RST Department provides network skills within Télécom SudParis, from network infrastructure to services, with strong expertise in cybersecurity, quality of service, optimization, protocols, virtualization, learning methods, etc., for various application sectors like industry 4.0, energy, transport, telecommunications, mobility, health, smart-*, etc.
The RST department is strongly involved in network courses for the two schools on the Évry-Courcouronnes campus, Télécom SudParis and IMT Business School, but also in specialization courses on the Palaiseau campus. It is responsible for the network training area and acts in this field to coordinate all network teaching activities, both in the core curriculum and in specialization. It coordinates several training courses and teaching modules in initial training, work-study programs, specialized masters, masters of science, and in the DNMs of the Institut Polytechnique de Paris. In particular, it coordinates two advanced courses for Télécom SudParis - "System and Network Security" (SSR) and "Architecture and Intelligence for Networks" (AIR) - and a joint advanced course with IMT Business School "Management of Digital and Media Projects" (MEDIA). The department is also involved in continuing education activities.
The department, whose professors are also members of the Samovar laboratory, conducts sustained research activities, both applied and theoretical, in the field of networks and cyber security. Recognized for its level of expertise and the quality of its research, the department regularly sets up national and international collaborations with industrials (operators, manufacturers, and all industrial partners in the digital sector) and academic partners, but also research chairs. It hosts a large number of interns and doctoral students selected for their high research and innovation potential. Some of this work is based on the "Very High Speed" or "Security of connected infrastructures" platforms.
To carry out all of these activities, the department relies on the skills of a team composed of teacher-researchers, a platform engineer, research engineers, doctoral students, post-doctoral students, and two department assistants.
